The Enquiry

Castle Air, a leading provider of helicopter services, were hosting their annual Aviation Polo Cup at Hartwood Polo Club. This event raises funds for Fly2Help, a charity dedicated to transforming lives through the power of flight The event organisers were exploring the idea of spray painting a large logo display on the grass that would be eye-catching and visible to landing helicopters on the day. They were considering stencils as an application option and sought our expertise for a custom stencil solution.

Objectives

Create a visually striking logo on the polo field for the Aviation Polo Cup.

Design & Installation

Material Selection

Lightweight yet durable material was chosen to ensure the stencil could be easily transported & handled while remaining stable during application.

Laser cutting the stencil

The stencil was laser cut and marked with a key to help with seamless installation. Some letters comprised of 4 stencils so the key was necessary. Once cut it was packed neatly ready for the transportation.

Installation

On September 12, 2024, Jessica-Belle met the Castle Air team at Hartwood Polo Club to install the stencil. The process involved:

  • Plumb Line: A plum line was used to create a straight line to ensure the design was level
  • Layout: The team carefully positioned the stencil pieces along the plum line, ensuring accurate alignment and coverage
  • Securing: Each section was secured using tent pegs to prevent movement during the spray painting process
  • Spray Painting: Once the stencil was in place, a temporary spray paint was used to spray through the stencil design. This method allowed for clean edges and a sharp, professional look for the logo
  • Stencil Removal: After the paint dried, the stencil was carefully removed, revealing a perfect 45m wide Castle Air/Luxaviation logo!
